Still missing Duffy

Duffy's remains and special things are centered in our bookcase set with his framed pictures above.

Duffy's paw print on the left, his ashes in the center, and the ball I crocheted with his leather collar on it & the sweater I knitted for him on the right.

Went to visit Mom & Dad's house again for the second time since moving back to Idaho. Missed Duffy on our car ride as he would have loved it and he always loved to visit "Grandma & Grandpa."

Joe (our five yr old Chi mix) enjoyed the driving anyway and marked plenty of trees and rocks on Duffy's behalf.

Joe and Lulu are a great pair and love to play on visits. It gets us laughing at their size difference.

Lulu is a great dane and boxer mix.

Duffy's Gone

Vanessa and Duffy during our last afternoon together.  It was very difficult to be calm for his sake.

Duffy and Tom just before the vet come in to euthanize him.  Duffy was giving Tom kisses just before he left us forever.

Recent Travels Across Texas

We all finally got tired of waiting to see some of the state of Texas and got going.

One weekend we headed due east over to Toledo Bend Resevoir and Louisiana.

Duffy loves the deeper backseat of the

Driving back to Texas from Louisiana

It was almost 200 miles each way!  It was certainly fun to see Louisiana, though!  On the drive back, we had to go through a terrible storm - rain, high winds, etc.  NO FUN at all.  The drive back took longer due to the bad weather.

More about the next trip in my next post...

Duffy's truck ride (or not!)

Duffy!
Duffy is waiting for Tom to come out of the grocery store in this photo.  Since we have moved to Texas, Duffy has done very little traveling and not even very many car rides.  He's been so disappointed!  I realized the other day that he was not looking forward to a drive like usual because he keeps going only to the vet's office.  Poor guy - of course he didn't really want to go get in the truck.  He does like riding in the full-size crew cab truck better than any car.  The backseat is deeper and flatter so he keeps his footing better and can stretch out more when he lays down.  And the armrests on the door are wider and at a good height for him.

Hopefully soon he and Rusty, the new 2 yr old chihuahua mix will be taking some trips.  Summer is almost over, right?  Should it not get below 95 degrees sometime soon?!?

Rusty!

Made the move

The job offer came through and we moved to Texas.  It was pretty hot and now it's pretty cold!

Duffy in the moving truck
Duffy was a real trooper with the move.  He was really patient with the 16-18 hour days of driving.  He loves the new backyard - it's big!

I've kept his hair trimmed short and he appreciates how much cooler he feels on the hot days.  If it's too cold he just wears his sweater.

Travelling ... Moving

If all the stars align and my job offer comes through, we all will be moving to Texas in a few months.  Argh! and Yay!

Here's a Duffy picture:

in his favorite couch pose.  He loves to lay with his tummy against the back of the couch and his neck bent back so his chin rests against the armrest.  He's not quite bent back as much as he likes to be in this photo as taking his picture disturbed him.

He will definitely need his hair cut short when we move - it's over 100 degrees every day and a bit more humidity than we are used to here in Moscow.

Hopefully everything will fall into place for us.  I really don't love moving!

Duffy visits Salem, OR, again!

Here is a photo of Duffy enjoying Barkley's favorite afghan.  Duffy loves to visit the folks' house in Salem as he gets to be part of the pack.  We went to Oregon over spring break to visit family.  Great visit!
